Queer Self-Publishing, Writing Solidarity and Zine-Making
Workshop Series hosted by Galerie im Körnerpark at Kreativraum, Galerie im Körnerpark and at WIRWIR project space, Berlin-Neukölln
Writing, collage, illustration are means of both self-expression and documentation. The workshop series engages with ways of queer self-publishing, writing, collaging and illustration as practices of solidarity and community building. The project connects two geographical locations, Accra and Kumasi, Ghana, and Berlin, Germany, intertwining queer stories told in, about, and from those locations. The LGBTQIA+ community in Ghana is currently under acute threat from a law disguised as “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights And Ghanaian Family Values Bill”. Recent Pride anthologies, published by LGBT Rights Ghana together with artists and activists in Ghana, are both a tool to resist oppression, and a way of archiving queer experiences.
The participants in Berlin are invited to discuss and practice queer self-publishing, writing strategies and community and political work through writing, illustration and zine-making.
Please sign-up by writing an e-mail to zine-workshop@posteo.de by 16.8.2024
