How accessible is the website?
This website is partially accessible. It only partially meets the requirements of BITV 2.0.
Which areas are not accessible?
The areas listed below are not accessible for the following reasons:
Incompatibility with BITV 2.0
Sections that are not accessible:
- Barrier:
- Description: Missing captions: Embedded videos contain spoken content but do not provide captions. This results in a lack of an accessible alternative for deaf or hard-of-hearing users. Important information conveyed through speech, background noise, or changes in speakers is therefore inaccessible. This makes it difficult to understand the content and can result in a complete information gap.
- Measures: Extended, synchronized captions should be provided that include all spoken content as well as relevant non-verbal audio information. The captions must be activatable via an accessible control element and must not obscure relevant visual content. c) Communicate the timeline as soon as possible.
- Timeline: Implementation of this measure is currently not feasible due to staffing and cost constraints. However, we are working to find a solution and will communicate the corresponding timeline as soon as possible.
- Accessible alternative: Please feel free to contact the office of the Neukölln Municipal Galleries

- Barrier:
- Description: Lack of audio description or a full-text alternative: Audio description or a full-text alternative must be provided for visual video content that conveys information. However, the embedded video does not contain any additional description, so blind or severely visually impaired users have no way of accessing relevant visual information (e.g., actions, gestures, facial expressions, text overlays, or scene changes).
- Measures:
- Provide an audio description that describes important visual content, either as a separate audio track or narrated during existing pauses in dialogue.
- Alternatively, a full-text alternative can be provided that describes all visual and auditory content of the video in text form.
- If the video does not contain any significant visual content, this should be indicated by a brief text description.
- Timeline: Implementation of this measure is currently not feasible due to staffing and cost constraints. However, we are working to find a solution and will communicate the corresponding timeline as soon as possible.
- Accessible Alternative: Please feel free to contact the office of the Neukölln Municipal Galleries

- Barrier:
- Description: Information in German Sign Language is missing. The homepage lacks both a clearly identifiable link to content in German Sign Language (DGS) and the DGS versions of the information required by law. This includes information on the website’s main content as well as the accessibility statement. There is also no reference to further content in DGS. As a result, users who rely on visual sign language content are excluded from key information.
- Actions: A clearly visible and accessible link to content in German Sign Language should be provided on the homepage.
Ensure that the information in German Sign Language is provided in accordance with the requirements of BITV 2.0. This includes an explanation of the website’s essential content and the essential content of the accessibility statement (EzB). Please note that links to the information in German Sign Language must be accessible directly from the homepage and must comply with the requirements of BITV 2.0. Access via an additional menu does not legally constitute a direct link to this information. An additional menu does not ensure the immediate visibility of the information, and users must take additional steps. The explanation of the key information in the AEP should also be linked on the standard AEP page. Information on implementation and provision is available from the Competence Center for Digital Accessibility. - Timeline: Implementation of this measure is currently not feasible due to staffing and cost constraints. However, we are working to find a solution and will communicate the corresponding timeline as soon as possible.
- Accessible Alternative: Please feel free to contact the office of the Neukölln Municipal Galleries
