Normally, the intensely colourful Körnerpark loses its luminosity at the end of summer when the flowering pink oleander and the green palms are taken in from the terrace in front of Galerie im Körnerpark. But then what is normal this year?
This autumn, for the first time, works of art created especially for the gardens reinstate Körnerpark’s colourful splendour. Inspired by the opulent ornamentation of the neo-baroque oasis, artists Maria and Natalia Petschatnikov created decorative flower vases painted with imaginative historical motifs to take the place of the plant pots on the balustrade out front. The bulging silhouettes of the vases play with perception and seem to move, almost dancing, in different directions. By giving the impression that these curved, porcelain-like vases are communicating with each other, they put Körnerpark visitors in a magical, dreamy mood.
