Egill Sæbjörnsson presents his thoughts about the connection between mental and physical aspects of reality in From Magma to Mankind. He demonstrates that the difference between living and non-living material is not clearly defined and wants us to consider everything leading to single-celled organisms and all life on Earth important chapters in the book of life. Such a perspective leads to the realisation that humans emerged not from single-celled organisms, but from magma. Sæbjörnsson’s work catches visitors off guard, prompting them to consider ontological questions. There is an underlying seriousness and thoughtfulness in his approach though his works are known for their lightness and humour.
