Estranged Habitats
with the artist Betty Böhm and the sounds of plants and electromagnetic radiation
Based on her installation at the past exhibition Silent Spring, Betty Böhm has conceived a site-specific soundscape that deals with the plants of the garden of the Galerie im Körnerpark. Using special microphones, she has recorded the respective movement vibrations of certain plants and transformed them into a Körnerpark-specific composition. Beyond this basic composition she will perform live, using a special microphone. The microphone converts electromagnetic radiation into acoustic signals, which she will use to make artificial sources of radiation such as electrical appliances, laptops and visitors’ cell phones audible and “play” them live.
